Learning to Breastfeed

Antenatal breastfeeding education

The aim of the Learning to Breastfeed package is to educate on the anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, build breastfeeding knowledge and skills e.g. antenatal expressing, positioning and attachment, education on skin to skin contact, reading baby's feeding cue's, create a breastfeeding plan and to identify your support network.

Getting Started

Pregnancy to 6 weeks Postpartum

The aim of the Getting Started package is to build your confidence in breastfeeding prior to the birth and support you in the early postnatal period transitioning to the establishment of infant feeding.

  • 1x Antenatal Home Consultation and Breastfeeding Education 

  • 2x Postnatal Home Visits

  • 6 weeks of Telephone, Teleconference or Email support

Building Confidence

1-6 weeks Postpartum

The aim of the building confidence package is to continue to build your confidence in breastfeeding and guide you through the first 6 weeks to maintaining breastmilk supply. 

  • 2x Postnatal home visits

  • Follow up care by phone, text, email or video until 6 weeks postpartum

Breastfeeding Trouble shooting

Here for You at any stage of your Breastfeeding Journey

Individual sessions aimed at trouble shooting breastfeeding issues such as but not limited to: 

  • Full, Firm or Engorged breasts

  • Sore, tender, grazed or cracked nipples 

  • Positioning or attachment issues 

  • White nipple blebs 

  • Blocked ducts 

  • Mastitis 

  • Expressing 

  • Low supply 

  • Over supply 

  • Painful let down 

  • Nipple Vasospasm 

  • Previous breast surgery - reduction or augmentation

  • Breast refusal 

  • Baby sleeping at the breast

  • Unsettled baby

  • Poor weight gain

  • Introducing family foods 

  • Teething  ​

  • Returning to work
